Prelude

Picture
Welcome back to Spooky Hall!
Where eerie music creeps and crawls.
Watch your step! Don't take a fall...
Beware the pranks and ghostly calls.

You once had luck obey your whim
The reaper laughed, you stole his grim...
Pushed thaT minion off the brim
And with a smirk!—a mean old grin!

So thank you much for your return
With friends in tow to have a turn,
But mark my wordS, I speak them stern:
From my mistakes, I quickly learn!

Chapter oNe

The candy hEre at first tastes sweet
But soon gets gross the more you eat.
It fills your mouth with taste of feet
A silly gag—a trick AND treat!

Chapter TWO

Picture
Now the hallway comEs awake.
The staircase spirals up and quakes.
Lighting flickers, flooring shakes,
Splitting walls and tilting frames.

A crack appears like ligHtning glows
And quickly spreads as wide it grows.
What lies within, nobody knows
But in you run—your courage shows!

Hello There, friend, I've caught your scent...
And lucky you, to your content,
My appetite is all but spent...
A deStined widow's cold intent

To break my heart and leave me bent.
She called me lefty 'fore she went!
Now, indeed, I do lament
Never asking which she meant!

There is a window in the rOom
Boarded up against the gloom
of starlit skies and ghostly moon...
A shiny hint of coming doom.

And thEn a song entangles air
With prose you know but sing not Dare
Or risk revealing who goes there...
A ghoul might seize you in its lair!

Intermission

Never look beyond the music
Nor to the ones who live and lived.
Though the songs may be amusing
Poetry is found within...

If you search, you'll find a message
Deeply hidden in the contents.
Be the first who can decode it
And then post it in the comments!

Chapter six

Picture

How fun to curl and knot and lace
Your fingers into awKward shapes:
A shadow hoax that first creates
A jolly hare...then hungry sNake!

Chapter Seven

Picture
You spy upon a table stand
A book so ancient, writ In hand...
No stories there of pleasant lands
Or sunny fields wHere creatures dance.

Crummy dusty yellowed pages
Some with poems, some with sketches
Some kept secret through the ages,
Some revealed on empty sTages.

I'll make a brew, a simple task,

The fumes of spice and pepper mills,

Of sniffing dust or Too much silt...

"Achoo! Pardonne moi!"
Your whereabouts are clums'ly spilt!

Epilogue

Picture
So yet again your instincts showed!
What pesky sense: survival mode!
All ghouls now banished with an Ode
to Halloween, and all bestowed...

Well good for you, indeed so wise!
To know the sun will always rise
And light, like logic, clarifies
The smallest dim In any sky.

'Til next time...
